At Desperate for Love Dog Pound Rescue (DFL) we aim to find rescue dogs their permanent homes with families who will commit to loving them for the rest of their days! The dogs in our care live temporarily with foster families throughout the Perth Metro area while we prepare them for adoption; completing their vaccinations, microchipping, desexing & other medical care, and getting to know their personalities and needs. We don’t have a central location as our foster carers are based all over Perth, so you are welcome to view our dogs online and contact us by email if you would like to apply for & meet one of our dogs. Please be aware that each dog may have many applications for their adoption and only one applicant can be chosen; our goal is to select the home best matched to the needs of the individual dog. We do our best to notify unsuccessful applicants or suggest a more suitably matched dog, but we’re only human! We do, however, appreciate your patience and understanding. As DFL dogs are usually rescued from pounds, we are often unaware of their age, breed, health records, and background. While we do try to list an approximate age and breed and share some information on their temperament, these are based on observation and estimation; when fostering/adopting, you should be aware that there are no guarantees when it comes to rescue dogs. When you adopt a DFL dog, their adoption fee goes towards paying for their vet work along with helping other dogs in need! We also rescue dogs that are very old or ill and care for them under our rescue for whatever time they have left – these are our 'Forever Fosters'. If you’d like to donate to DFL, our bank details are: Desperate for Love Dog Pound Rescue Inc. BSB: 086-136 Account No: 14-860-4310
Adoption Policy: Strict
Please be aware that each dog may have many applications for their adoption and only one applicant can be chosen; our goal is to select the home best matched to the needs of the individual dog. This means we don't believe in "first in, best dressed". We will take our time selecting the right match. We aim to notify all unsuccessful applicants or suggest a more suitably matched dog if we can, but we’re only human! We do appreciate your patience and understanding while our volunteers sort through the applications. As DFL dogs are usually rescued from pounds, we are often unaware of their age, breed, health records, and background. While we do try to list an approximate age and breed and share some information on their temperament, these are based on observation and estimation; you should be aware that there are no guarantees when it comes to rescue dogs. We have dogs in foster carer who are ready to be adopted, and when clicking their enquiry button, your message will be sent directly to our Adoption Team. Dogs marked as requiring foster care will need a foster home before they can be adopted. But they can be fostered with the view to adopt! When you click their enquiry button, your message will be sent directly to the Foster Care Team. ADOPTION: 1. Login or sign up to SavourLife Adopt-A-Dog, then click the "Enquire about (name)" button to submit your enquiry. DFL's adoption team will then send you an Expression of Interest form to return. 2. Successful applicants will then have a 'Meet & Greet' with the dog and their carer, along with a volunteer home visit & property check, before beginning a trial period with the dog to ensure a great match for all involved. DFL dogs are vaccinated, micro chipped & desexed prior to adoption (or at 6 months as a condition of adoption). FOSTER: If a dog is listed as "Foster Carer Required", they are looking for a temporary home in Perth metro area while their vet work is completed and while they wait for their forever home. They may also be fostered with the view to adoption. 1. Login or sign up to SavourLife Adopt-A-Dog, then click the "Enquire about (name)" button to submit your enquiry. DFL's foster team will then send you a Foster Application form to return. 2. Foster care applicants will have a volunteer home visit & property check. Once the foster team determines an ideal match, applicants will meet with the dog and their current carer or a rescue representative, and then commence foster care. Sorry we can’t take calls, as our rescue is run entirely by volunteers, but we endeavour to respond to your email as soon as possible. Your patience is greatly appreciated.
