Pound Rescue Inc is a private rescue group saving dogs and cats from death row in pounds across NSW, QLD and the ACT. We don’t discriminate on the basis of breed, age, size or health. We rescue the urgent animals, that is, the animals that are at imminent risk of being killed – not because there is anything wrong with them but because the pound is ‘full’ or they have overstayed their welcome; or because they are distressed and not coping in the pound environment; or because they are deemed too young or too old or too unwell or are judged to be the ‘wrong’ breed; or because they are just inconvenient. We are the rescue of last resort for many of these animals. All our rescued animals are placed in foster care where they are loved, cared for and kept safe until they find their forever home. They are microchipped, desexed, vaccinated and treated for fleas and worms. All necessary veterinary care is provided where an animal is sick or has an injury. If required we engage animal behaviourists and other experts to assist with training or rehabilitation. Foster carers We are always in need of foster carers; without carers we cannot save any animals. If you are interested in speaking to us about becoming a foster carer, please email us at [email protected] with the words FOSTER CARER in the subject line. Donations Pound Rescue Inc is self funded and relies on donations to save the animals. We are all volunteers, we don’t have any paid staff and we don’t have the overheads of operating a kennel facility. This means that all donations go directly towards the rescue and care of the animals. Pound Rescue Inc is a registered charity and donations of $2 or more are tax deductible. Thank you
Adoption Policy: Strict
If you are interested in meeting one or our animals please email us at [email protected] with your phone number, a brief description of the family home you can offer - the number of adults and children in the home, other pets, how long the animal would be left on its own each day, the type of fencing and whether the fencing is secure. We try and answer all enquiries asap but we are all volunteers, working full time paid jobs as well as running this rescue organisation, so please have patience with us. We like to meet all members of the family (human and furry) at your meet and greet with the dog you are interested in. Please note that we have a general policy of not adopting big dogs into home with cats. If renting a letter of approval must be provided by the estate agent/landlord. All our animals have a two week trial period.
