Monika's DoggieRescue

Monika's Doggie Rescue is a registered charity that believes in saving and re-homing as many dogs as we can from the council pounds. For many years Monika Biernacki and a group of volunteers have been rescuing dogs from death row and successfully re-homing them with permanent and loving owners. In 2001 the charity DoggieRescue.com was established. Many of the dogs we take are small dogs and puppies but we also take as many bigger dogs as we have carers for. Most of the dogs we rescue are cross breeds but from time to time we have pure breed dogs. Dogs rescued from the pound are microchipped, heartworm tested and vaccinated by a veterinarian, who also gives them a basic health check and provides us with an estimate of their age. The dogs are desexed (if required) and given any additional veterinary treatment to return them to good health. All of the rescued dogs are then cared for, awaiting adoption into a permanent loving home. Once the dogs have completed 8-10 days quarantine (so we can observe them for any illnesses they may have picked up) they stay at our shelter, Doggiewood at Ingleside in the northern beaches of Sydney or can be placed into a foster home. We have over 200 dogs up for adoption. They are all featured on this site. Over a year we save about 500 dogs. We ask re-imbursement for the basic desexing, vaccination, microchipping and heartworm testing only - generally between $400 and $600. NO KILL Policy Monika's DoggieRescue has a NO KILL policy so all dogs we get from the pound are re-housed or stay with us for their life. This policy includes accepting former DoggieRescue dogs back if their owners discard them.

Adoption Policy: Strict

We are a charitable organisation and we rely very much on volunteers to manage our adoptions. For that reason we don’t always have people available to handle adoptions unless you make an appointment. Also, many of our dogs are in Foster care so we may need time to arrange for your chosen doggies to be available to meet you. We try and handle most of the initial adoption inquiries by email and phone and then we will make an appointment for you to come and meet some of the doggies.
