ABOUT US Puppy Tales Rescue and Rehoming Inc (PTRR) is a foster care based dog rescue. We are run solely by volunteers who dedicate there time to saving the lives of dogs from pounds and shelters, puppy factory survivors and owner surrenders. During their stay with us, our dogs are kept in loving foster homes where we can assess her needs and work out their personalities. This gives us the perfect environment to make sure we can then place them in the most suitable home. FROM THE BEGINNING From humble beginnings in April 2012, Puppy Tales Rescue and Rehoming Inc grew in need very quickly. We are based in Merrimu which is around 30 mins west of Melbourne. In 2015 we became registered Charity and not for profit. All donations over $2 are tax deductible. All though we have predominantly turned into a small breed rescue, we take in dogs of all breeds, shapes and sizes! Puppy Tales Rescue has also become well known for taking in dogs who require life saving medical treatment and support. Saving the underdog is something we take great pride in doing. We think owning a dog is one of the most rewarding things you can do and we are here to offer help and support to both people and their pets
Adoption Policy: Strict
Puppy Tales Rescue is not a first to apply rescue group. We re-home our dogs based on the best possible family we can find them. Our wheels keep turning thanks to some very dedicated volunteers, there are no paid staff so all our funds go directly to helping our animals in care. Our adoption fee includes:- de-sexing, microchip, vaccination, vet check, flea and worm treatment. A majority of our animals have undergone other medical treatment from major dentals, patella repairs, hernia repairs or received treatment for other medical ailments. Medical needs, ongoing treatment and any surgeries that the animal has received in our care will be listed on its individual profile. Full vet history will be released directly to the adoptive families vet. Our preferred vet clinic is Bacchus Marsh Veterinary Centre. Please understand that by filling out our preadoption questionnaire, by no means guarantees that you will be successful in the adoption process. Adoptions are NOT approved on a first come first served basis. The adoption process can be lengthy by the time we process all expressions of interest, so please be patient with us. Applicants will be required to complete and submit an Adoption form from in which a link will be found in each animal’s profile. Please try and be as descriptive as you can be to make sure you’re giving yourself the best possible chance as we use this form to find the most appropriate family home for our animals. Adoption from start to finish 1-Aplicatant fills out the online application form. 2- All applications are assessed, those deemed not suitable will be notified and a meet and greet is arrange with suitable one family. 3- If the meet and greet is successful, an inspection of the new families home is conducted (in special circumstances we allow video and photographs of the yard and living space). 4 a- If inspection fails, the adoption process is ceased or the family will be asked to fix any problems and a reinspection will be arranged. 4 b- If your home passes inspection, the adoption fee is paid, paperwork completed and a 2 week trial period is arranged. 5- Once the 2 week trail is successfully completed, the microchip transfer will be sent off and change of ownership will be finalised.
