Animal Rehoming Cairns and Tablelands rescues companion pets such as cats, kittens, dogs and pups in and around the Tablelands and Cairns. ARCAT may offer to protect these pets in foster homes until the right forever homes are found or, we may encourage owners to foster. As a general rule, we require that all our cats and kittens go to "indoor only" homes except in some very special cases. All our pups and dogs will go to homes with dog proof fences. Our aim is to stop the cycle of unwanted pets through desexing and by raising awareness by owners why they should desex their pets to help prevent the high rates of euthenasia in our pounds. Animal Rehoming Cairns and Tablelands District is based in Far North Queensland but we have rehomed many pets right around Australia as far west as Perth and south to Tasmania. We use Dogtainers to move our rescues wherever they are wanted. All our cats, kittens, dogs and pups are microchipped, vaccinated, desexed, wormed and flea treated before they leave our care, which can be arranged at an early age. Animal Rehoming Cairns and Tablelands District is a private group operating on private funding, so we appreciate very much the assistance of our vet partners, together with Atherton & District Animal Welfare Society and Cairns Animal Welfare. We also thank Tableland Regional Council, Mareeba Council and Cairns City Council for their implementation of policies that allow ARCAT to operate as a foster based group.
