We take in vulnerable cats who have been forgotten about and bring them to safety, placing them into caring foster homes where they can recover, learn to trust, and thrive. From there, we support each cat with the care they need and carefully match them with a forever home where they can truly belong.

Adoption Policy: Strict

Cat Rescue Lake Macquarie (CRLM) is a volunteer-run rescue committed to finding safe, permanent and suitable homes for cats and kittens in our care. Our adoption process is designed to ensure the best possible outcome for both the cat and the adopter. Adoption Process: All prospective adopters are required to complete an adoption enquiry form. If the application is suitable, a meet and greet will be arranged with the foster carer. Meet and greets take place in the foster home so adopters can see the cat in their current environment and ask any questions. If you wish to proceed after the meet and greet, an adoption agreement must be completed and the adoption fee paid. All adoptions include a two-week trial period to allow the cat and adopter time to settle in. If the placement is not successful during this time, the cat must be returned to CRLM. Vet Work & Health Care All cats are vet-checked and receive age-appropriate veterinary care, which may include: Microchipping Vaccinations Flea and worm treatment Desexing (where age and health allow) Kittens under 1.5kg may be adopted from 8 weeks of age, however adopters must agree to return the kitten to one of our approved veterinarians once the minimum weight is reached for desexing. Desexing timing is determined by our vet, and by signing the adoption agreement you agree to these terms. Adoption Fees An adoption fee applies to all cats and kittens. This fee helps cover a portion of the veterinary and care costs incurred while the cat is in rescue. As a volunteer-run rescue, adoption fees are essential in allowing us to continue helping more cats in need. General Conditions CRLM reserves the right to decline any application without providing a detailed explanation Cats must not be given away, sold or rehomed to another person without written approval from CRLM Adopters must provide appropriate care, including safe housing, regular veterinary care and ongoing commitment Our goal is always to place cats into homes where they will be loved, protected and treated as a lifelong family member.
