Why Animal Rescue Tablelands Inc. Requires Ongoing Funding Support Animal Rescue Tablelands Inc. (ARTI) is a registered not‑for‑profit organisation that has operated continuously since 2012, providing essential animal welfare services across Cairns, Mareeba and the Tablelands region. We receive no government funding and rely entirely on community donations, fundraising, and our small charity shop Animal Rescue Tablelands Inc. The Second Shop at 68 Byrnes St Mareeba to sustain operations. Cost of Care: Each animal entering our program receives comprehensive veterinary treatment, including examinations, vaccinations, microchipping, desexing, parasite prevention, and any required diagnostics or medical interventions. Many animals present with untreated illness, injury, or neglect, resulting in significantly higher veterinary costs. Rising prices for veterinary services, transport, food, and supplies have further increased our operational burden. Service Delivery Model: ARTI operates a foster‑based model, ensuring animals are housed in safe, family environments rather than kennels. This approach improves welfare outcomes but requires ongoing provision of food, bedding, enrichment, transport, and medical care at the organisation’s expense. Foster carers are not asked to contribute financially. Community Impact: Our work reduces pressure on local pounds, prevents unnecessary euthanasia, supports responsible pet ownership, and provides adoption pathways for vulnerable animals. We also deliver community education, crisis support for owners in hardship, and collaborative welfare initiatives. Why Funding Is Essential: Without external financial support, ARTI cannot continue to meet the growing demand for rescue services. Funding enables us to cover veterinary costs, maintain essential supplies, support foster placements, and continue providing high‑quality care and adoption outcomes for animals in need. Adoption Policy: Strict

All our Rescue's are Vet Checked, Vaccinated, Micro-Chipped, De-Sexed, Wormed, Flea & Tick treated, prior to Adoption, Pups & Kittens under 12 weeks old are available for Pre-Adoption where the Adoption Fee needs to be received in order for them to be written up as Adopted, they will be able to go to their forever families the same day they are De-Sexed. All Rescue's from 12 weeks old can be go to their new forever families immediately upon their Adoption Fee being received.
